The Ghost Tree
Recently stripped of its bark, this cork oak glows like a ghost in the midst of the forest. This photograph is part of my series on the Portuguese “montados”, or Mediterranean oak forests. What is fascinating about the trees of the Portuguese “montados” (Mediterranean oak forests) is that each one seems to have a very distinctive personality. Each is an easily recognizable individual.
